ATV rider Jerry called the NEST hotline this morning after finding a crawl in Nags Head a little south of Jennette’s Pier. We were hopeful that she had nested because of a crazy loop-d-loop she had made but once responders got on scene, it was determined to be a false crawl. Below you can see her crawl on the left with her crazy track highlighted next to it.
This loggerhead mom did not lay her eggs and we are not sure why she decided not to nest. She might have been distracted, gotten scared of something, or just decided she was not ready. We hope that she will find another area for her nest very soon!
