Well first of all I have to apologize for missing the find of Nest 5 by ATV rider, John J, on the KDH Route.  John has found 2 nests this year (thank you John!!!). Before today there was a three way tie of 2 nests each between John, Lynn and Tim. This morning Tim edged ahead  when he found crazy Nest 21 in Nags Head. There is still plenty of time for others to take the lead!!! Thanks to every single one of our ATV riders!!

Tim points out the long crawl of nest 21

Mama turtle not only crawled up on the dune to lay her nest but also made some wheelies on her way back to the ocean.

This is one of the loopty loops she made on her way out. Thanks for the photo Bob!!

This nest was laid on the side of the dune and then mama turtle crawled over her nest on her way back to the ocean.  It as a bit tough to find the eggs!!!

The nest was found in the area of the red circle. Incoming track is on the right and out going on left. What was she up to?? More loopty loops??

Once we had the datalogger in place and the piezometer installed and had just about finalized our work, we received notice that the nest had to be relocated. David A. aka Socrates told us that “Turtle Poop Happens.”   If you see David PLEASE remember his new stature as the NEST Philosopher. The team expertly relocated the nest a few miles north.

The hard working Team of Nest 21 . Socrates is circled in red. Remember who he is!!!
