Nest #10 found in Duck

July 5th 2011: Today we got our tenth nest of the season, the most that we've had in at least 6 seasons. ATV rider Mike Powers was the lucky rider to find nest #10 on the north end of Duck and not too far from Nest #3. Nesting responders were concerned as the nest site sat in a trough (low spot) right at the high tide line. With high chances of pooling water, it was decided that this nest was best to be relocated so all 85 eggs were taken to the toe of the dune.

August 22nd 2011: On day 49 Nest #10 produced a boil of 55 hatchlings that emerged at 10:04 pm last night (Monday). First emergence of 3 was at 10:00 pm and a last trickle of 1 was at 10:55 pm. All 59 hatchlings made it safely to the surf. Guess they decided they would come early and escape the storm this weekend!
