Network for Endangered Sea Turtles 24 HR. HOTLINE 252-441-8622

Saturday morning at 6AM ATV rider Jackie called the NEST hotline with a report of our first crawl of the season.  The team was thrilled but discovered a bit of a wonky (not-so-traditional) nest site.  A beautiful pile of thrown sand was seen on the incoming crawl so the team decided to dig for eggs but after excavating a small crater to China, they just weren’t found.  Could it be a false crawl?  Or could this have just been one sneaky mom? Time will tell. The team marked off the site and will monitor it for the next two months.

Crawl - incoming tracks are on the left, outgoing on the right.
