5/3/12 the 90.9 lb loggerhead was transported to Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center on Topsail Island, NC. The intestinal impaction had been breaking up and she had appeared to be improving. NC state sea turtle biologist Matthew Godfrey notified aquarist Christian Legner 6/7/12 that the turtle, known at Topsail as “Roanoke,” had died during the night of 6/6/12. A necropsy will be performed and the report forwarded to us.
