Network for Endangered Sea Turtles 24 HR. HOTLINE 252-441-8622

A little after 3AM Sunday morning a turtle emerged from the ocean in Carova Beach and worked her way up the beach to lay eggs.  She was spotted by beach goers around 3:30AM who watched her make her way back to the ocean around 5AM.

After a couple days of strong NE winds, a nice 2ft escarpment was left on the beach. The turtle crawled right up to the “wall” and laid her eggs at it’s foot.  Unfortunately, because of the risk of the escarpment caving in and burying the site, NESTers had to relocate her nest.   Now located closer to the dune, we await our little hatchlings in another 2 months or so!
