4/9/12 Special Visitor to Rehab

11/09/11 Emily McGovern, a young girl visiting OBX, found a listless, 3.6 lb. Kemp’s ridley on the beach in Southern Shores.  Her family called the N.E.S.T. Hotline and when volunteer Marilyn Seal arrived to take the little Kemp’s to the animal clinic, Emily requested that we name him/her Buster. And that is how our Rehab was able to help this little turtle become healthy enough to be released in the Gulf Stream 1/31/12.

Emily and her father Brian

4/09/12 Emily visited our Rehab facility to meet our current patients, green sea turtles Fanny and Frankie, as well as learn more about how we care for them. Emily took photos to show her friends and classmates. She is preparing to celebrate her 12th birthday and is asking her friends to make donations to N.E.S.T. in lieu of gifts. Thank you, Emily, from Buster and N.E.S.T.

What a great story for Buster. Thank you Emily and family for being concerned and not just walking away from him. He is out there swimming happily around the world because of your kindness.
