So far this year we’ve had a sort of low number of nests. Seem low, in part, because in the past 5 years we have had some real record breaking numbers. Long time NEST ATV rider, Rick J, must have taken the low numbers to heart as he found TWO nests in Nags head this morning. Congratulations Rick! Some of your fellow ATV riders are jealous!

On her way back to the ocean, this mother turtle crawled right over the top of her nest

New NESTer Jill S found the eggs!

Nest 14

Because South Nags Head is known to be a very highly erodible section of beach, nests laid there are often relocated to higher ground. Both of the nests laid this morning, however, stayed right where mother turtles put them.
