Network for Endangered Sea Turtles 24 HR. HOTLINE 252-441-8622

The weather was perfect last Wednesday as we said “so long” to Hernando at Coquina Beach. With nearly 200 fans watching, Hernando swam off into the ocean after spending 10 months in the rehab center. Found in Corolla in September of 2012, Hernando’s initial stranding report was completed by Karen Clark of the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education and students from the Water’s Edge Village School. Some of these students were on hand to say goodbye to the turtle they helped rescue.
